MORNING BUS RIDER
For the past year, I've reliably seen an old man (~70 years old) on the same bus everyday. The 8:57 AM bus. He's usually on by the time the bus reaches my stop, and then he gets off at State Street. He wears a maize and blue jacket and maize gloves. In the summer he wears jeans and often a fashionable white button-down. Recently I have not been keeping a regular schedule, but I don't remember seeing him for a month. I took note this morning to check for him (as I am often caught up taking care of my bumbling self in the morning) and didn't see him. I'm a little worried. :|

oh oh. *anxious*
It's interesting how we take note of random people we come across in our lives.. especially when there is almost no interpersonal contact.
This reminds me of lady in Berkeley who always went around asking for "bus fare." I still remember being accosted by her back when I was a freshman and falling for her story and then giving her 25 cents. It wasn't even a week when I saw her pulling the same thing again. I felt fooled! Drats! Never again!
Having lived in the east bay for so many years post-college, I went to Berkeley quite often. I recall seeing her a couple months ago. She looked older, a bit fatter but was still carrying around the same bags and still didn't look like she was homeless (not-too-shabby clothes). I overheard her asking people for money but now she was asking for a $1. I guess that's inflation for you.
I think I remember a man pulling the same scam. Only it was some exact amount, like he needed only$1.38 more for his bus fare. I ran into him once on Telegraph, and then he came to MY apartment complex going door to door asking for money.
I wonder how he is?
Or Charlie the Preacher?
Or Rick Star?
