I had the pleasure of attending my friend's wedding in September and the honor of shooting and putting together her wedding video. Unfortunately, I paid no attention to the technical aspects of video making and just made sure to engage people and capture all the moments. I then offered after everything was shot to put it together. So, you'll see many heads cut off :-/ and well, I did cut out the parts where my fingers blocked the lens. Good thing I wasn't the only cameraperson. Nevertheless, it was fun putting this together! (whilst groaning about the camerawork :) )

family entity

This is our first holiday season as Hoosband and Wifay.  Getting married made us a real-life family, autonomous from our own respective families.  And unbeknownst to us, THAT comes with our OWN set of holiday cards!  I received cards from my married friends and then some from uncles/aunts and family friends from whom I've never received holiday cards from before.

Then it occurred to us that we, as a family entity, must now produce our own holiday cards.  Seeing as we are new to this and were already behind the ball, we put together an e-card with iPhoto.  It was so easy and looks pretty professional.

We couldn't quite figure out how to download new themes, so if anybody knows, please pass on the info!

random outing of bows and arrows

I don't even remember what inspired the idea to do archery.  The last time I did archery I was 12 years old and at Foothill Sports camp.  We were in a green field and shooting at targets pinned to big bales of hay.  This is exactly the scene I have in mind when I think of archery.  But in NYC?  Nope, Queens Archery is located indoors in a very white warehouse type space.

Nevertheless, it was a blast!  We started the day off with bagels and cream cheese, and then got a lesson, whereupon I discovered all the newest advances in archery.  So much gear that I never knew of!  Made it so much easier than the Robin Hood type equipment that I used before.

Meanwhile there was a tournament going on.  I made that guy in the green shirt nervous.  He no likey pictures.

my nyc wknd

Unseasonably warm December weekend.

Got a haircut FINALLY.  Bangs, see?  I asked my hair stylist for something fun, and she gave me bangs and layers.  Not that exciting, and now I look like I'm 18 years old.

Went ice skating at the Wollman Rink in Central Park.

Spotted Kate Walsh!  Told her that I was a big fan and that I loved the show.  I lied - I think the show has really gone downhill.

Sister later found Kate Walsh's tweet.  I can't believe I'm not mentioned.

 Kate Walsh

Had the perfect NY day...bkfst @ blt, ice-skating in central park and lunch @ the boathouse...yum! HSN, here I come!

They DO have a trap door!  Only it's off to the side, so it's less... humiliating.

go noles!

Blurrrry.  But this has to go in here because this is P and his old college roommate + son!

Kids, always playing around

2 alligators and 2 turtles lounge together on a bed of... vegetation.  Apparently, hard-shell turtles are not afraid of alligators.

3 vultures and an alligator

I had never been to Tallahassee, but I found it to be very different from the rest of Florida.  It's beautiful, with the romantic Spanish moss hanging on the trees and the lush forests.  P and I went to go to a Florida State game and to visit his old roommate.  It was Veteran's Day, so there was a lot of recognizing of the troops.  The paratroopers and the firecrackers were all a part of the celebration.  I'm a little sad that I didn't take more pictures of the crowd, but I noticed that all the FSU girls were well put together!  They like, DO their hair!  For a football game no less!  P says that in general, they all wear too much makeup.  I did notice that little girls had way too much "grown-up" makeup on.  Toddlers and Tiaras much?

We also visited Wakulla Springs State Park, which was simply amazing.  We saw a ton of wildlife while just coasting down the river.

baby gus

I've never thought about getting a bulldog.  They're as tall as they are wide.  Square.  See?

Recently a puppy bulldog got adopted by a couple in our building, and I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF HIM.  LITTLE GUS!  GUSTER!  Puppy bulldogs are the cutest, daresay rivaling (but not quite) the golden retriever puppy.  Oprah said that there's nothing cuter than a golden retriever puppy, and you know, Oprah is always right.  But look at how cute these guys are!

Gus looks like the first puppy.  He is really friendly but a super slow mover.  He just wobbles.  One day, he's going to grow up to be a 50 lb muscle.

I ran into him and his owners on the way out for a walk this week, and I stooped down to give Gus a rub down.  I continued on my way, but guess who came after me?  Gus!  Came after ME instead of his owners.  ME!  Doesn't that just warm the heart.  (I'm not delusional - I know he'll go after anybody who gives him a hearty hello!)

I see his owners more often in a week now than I have in the past 1.5 years of living in this building.  They're getting out more and getting a lot of attention.  I bet they're making lots of new friends because of Gus.  Certainly they're making a friend in me!  I finally found out what their names are this past week.

supercar

Just spotted this car as I stepped out for lunch!

It's called the Zenvo Supercar (yes, SUPERCAR) and is worth $1.8M.

15 of these will be made, 3 have been sold in the US, and the one that I spotted arrived for CNBC to test out.  It comes with a concierge service.  Check out the article.

Kim K coulda owned 10 of these if she didn't spend it all on her wedding day.  I think the ring that she seems to be keeping might cover it?

French Canada

It's really strange being in *almost* a foreign land.  It's exactly what we wanted - a place that felt foreign but not that far away.  We were warned that it would be cold (and it was), but there was enough sun to warm us up during the days, and to be honest, Sister was jet-lagged and I was sick, so we stayed cozy inside at night.

Some people said that the French Canadians were condescending in their use of the French language, much like the French are in France.  (WHY MUST AH SPEAK ANYTING UDDER THAN MAH BEAUTIFUL LANGUEEGE O FRANCAIS??) However, our experience this trip was different.  They readily used English with us, probably after sensing how hard we were concentrating on what they were saying, just hoping that we'd recognize 1 word and then making an educated guess.  Then nod "yes" or shake head for "no."  Pointing is good too.

Ooooh... exPOOOSure.  Me learned something!

Say it again with me class, exPOSure.

Because this guy was just WAY too cute not to comment on, I have to repost here.  Gatsby is SUCH a good looking golden retriever!  He's going to be so handsome when he grows up.
